THIS CAR NOW SOLD

If you like flying, this is a close as you’re going to get with just a driver’s licence……Single cockpit, open threewheeler race car, appropriately registered MIG 6841!!

This unique vehicle was scratch-built by its renowned engineer/owner John Nash, to resemble a European Grand Prix Racer from the golden years of motorsport. The front-end styling is reminiscent of an Alfa Romeo 158GP, whist the rear is a throwback to the legendary aero-finned Mercedes Silver Eagle.

An enthusiast-built project constructed whilst burning the midnight oil over hundreds of hours. To replicate custom-built bodywork like this today would require a small fortune (far more than our asking price for the car). It was finally completed about 10 years ago and has had two careful owners to date.

The car sits on an individually designed 1.5mm box section mild steel tube chassis with a wooden frame supporting a wood/alloy tub with GRP nosecone. The bonnet and side panels are in silver alloy, and can be removed for access. The (large-person) cockpit is lined in riveted alloy panelling with full set of period Smith’s instruments, toggle switches and dials. The speedo is rated to a 120 mph and has been suitably recalibrated.

A brief Specification as follows:-

Powered by a Renault 5TS 1289cc engine with single 44mm HIF type SU carb (to keep bonnet line low) with K + N filter and 4-speed synchro gearbox (with alloy knob) having the slick gear change remote to the driver’s left side, and not in the middle between the driver’s legs. S/s exhaust.

FWD with Spax adj shock absorbers/dampers with polished S/S plates on top of suspension arms. Michelin XZX 145 x 15 tyres (for period look) on TR4 wire wheels.

Cooling by BL radiator with brass expansion tank and cooling fan. Very effective heater. MG autoreel seatbelts. Hand stitched steering wheel.

Specially designed fuel tank above rear wheel, with remote indicator. 40mm dia anti-rollover bar in 3mm thick steel.

Comes with a full tonneau cover, host of mechanical spare parts including the original nosecone mould, rear towbar (designed for small matching trailer, not included) engineering build-log with photos and full wiring diagram. 6 months tax and 12 months MOT.

It is fully road-legal and drives frighteningly fast but thanks to the underlying 1970’s technology (predominately Renault/BMC) very safe and reliable.

The timeless popularity of early Formula One has inspired many auto imitations but you will not find one as keenly priced as this original John Nash creation.

She looks authentic and beautiful and turns heads wherever she goes. It is now available for sale, looking for an enthusiastic new owner/pilot. The only accessories required are the Biggles leather flying jacket, goggles and helmet….. Chocks away!

Can deliver UK mainland or ship worldwide. Interesting trades may be considered.
