1967 Jaguar Mk2 2,4 Litre Manual/Overdrive

1967 Jaguar Mk2 2,4 Litre Manual/Overdrive …. SOLD

One of the greatest saloon cars of all time, the compact Jaguar Mk2, and here is a very well preserved example which has been extensively restored over a number of years but which could have been completed just yesterday judging by its stunning appearance, will let the accompanying photographs of the exterior and interior speak for themselves.

The cost of restoring this car must have been very substantial, as it involved hundreds of hours of professional expertise, so the final bill can only be imagined. However, the finished result is an absolute show-stopper in every detail, with complete new interior and impeccable paintjob.

All usual Jaguar luxury refinements with acres of polished walnut and real leather upholstery. Understandably the Jag looks and drives like a factory-fresh new one with textbook oil pressure and roadhandling. It even has that new car smell.

2,4-Litre engine which has recently been fully tuned. Manual gearbox with fully functioning overdrive, it also displays only 53,000 miles which may be accurate, certainly the Jag’s present condition lends credence to such moderate usage.

Recent expenditure of over 4,500 pounds shows the Jag has been well cared for previously.

Comes with current MOT to March 2021 with no advisories.  All books & tools. Car is located in Lytham St Annes, Lancs. Transport can be arranged at £1 pr/mile one way. For more gen on this fabulous Jag, text or call John on 07909 231414. Also see my other cars on here.

The Mk 2 Jaguar, introduced in 1959, was a fast and capable saloon. It came with a 2.4, 3.4 or 3.8 litre XK engine. The 3.4 Litre and 3.8 Litre cars were fitted with twin SU HD6 carburettors and the 2.4 Litre with twin Solex carburettors. Compared to the Mark 1, the appearance of the car was transformed by an increase of 18% in cabin glass area. The car was re-engineered above the waistline, slender front pillars allowed a wider windscreen and the rear window almost wrapped around to the enlarged side windows. The radiator grille was amended and larger side, tail and fog lamps repositioned. Inside, a new heating system was fitted, with ducted air to the rear compartment. There was an improved instrument layout that became standard for all Jaguar cars until the XJ Series II. From its introduction, the Jaguar MkII developed a strong following in many walks of life. With wonderful styling and a race-bred engine and four-wheel disc brakes and the ability to carry five passengers at great speed, the car proved to be a great success.

‘One of the most impressive sights today is the rapid and purposeful progress of a Mark 2 Jaguar on a motorway, eating up the miles in the fast lane. Like the nose of a bullet, the rounded frontal shape looks right for high speed, and the sheer velocity attained is usually exhilarating.’ – Autocar June 1964
