A beautifully built tribute to the wonderful Type 59 Grand Prix Racer of which just 6 originals were built. This car has been meticulously crafted and could easily be mistaken for the real MacCoy.
Power comes from a Jaguar 4.2 Litre unit which provides exhilarating performance in a car so light with a suitable audible soundtrack to accompany. This is the Prototype car (Chassis #1) of a short series of 13 produced by Teal & as such had a show quality build level and is believed to be only car with the ” Rivet perfect hand-built Aluminium body” Finished in period Atlantic Blue with lovely detail features including unique split-top riveted wings, hand-wrapped & wired period exhaust, stainless steel external handbrake. The dash board boasts a full compliment of Jaeger instruments. An aluminium cowling comes with the car to blank off the passenger seat area.
The original build was extended over two years completing in 1991 and photographic records showing all stages of assembly are included in the ” History file ‘ which has been painstakingly maintained over the intervening years.
The car is ” Tax exempt ” as original donor Jaguar parts from 1968 are well documented from the original build. The engineering in this car is simply superb, if you see another car which looks as authentic as this one does the chances are it cost several hundred thousand pounds !
Taking it for a run is like a trip down memory lane with instant acceleration in any gear & a wonderful burble from the exhaust bouncing off the hedge rows whilst peering down the long louvered bonnet. The gear box is very easy to use and the steering light and very very direct allowing for exact placement of the car.
The Type 59 was considered to be the most beautiful racing car ever produced by the Bugatti Stable and in many peoples eyes the epitome of the pre- war racing cars. Looking at this car, many would agree!
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a stunning car, fully sorted, reliable and easily maintained for a very sensible cost.
