By almost any reckoning the E-Type Jaguar was the sexiest motorcar ever launched. Designed by an ex-aircraft specialist (Malcolm Sayer) it had remarkable aerodynamic 150 mph performance and awesome lines which have never been supassed.
The Vicarage Jaguar E-Type is like no other classic car. It is much more than a straightforward restoration. It can only be described as brand new. A prized possession and highly collectable. All cars are built to individual customer specification making every car unique. But such special cars cannot usually be bought ‘off the shelf’ like this one, Vicarage exclusivity means that only a limited number of Jaguars will be produced each year and naturally there is a waiting list. Here then is an opportunity to own and start enjoying a Vicarage E-Type right away. (http://www.vicarage.co.uk/)

The 1973 donor car was acquired by the former owner in 2001. It came with a bulging file of Bills totalling over £13,000 and 2 Valuation Certificates for £25,000. Nice though it was the new owner was looking for perfection and so commissioned Vicarage to rebuild it completely.

Once there the car was stripped, every nut and bolt being removed. Car was shot blasted and etch primed. The body shell was jigged and restored to original specification using new bonnet and other new or remanufactured parts, and refinished in Primrose Yellow.

The V12 engine was dismantled and reconditioned. Upgrades include Unleaded Fuel adaption, Electronic Ignition, Overhauled Starter, Water Pump and Alternator. The output was increased some 10% by the fitting of Fuel Injection system which also improves economy. Alloy radiator, larger cooling fan, New BMW 5-speed gearbox, Uprated Suspension. Extra soundproofing, 4-pot racing caliper brakes and larger discs, Air conditioning. Uprated driving lights.
Further luxury improvements include, Wood veneer Dash/Door Cappings, Central Locking, Connolly Upholstery, Tracker, Audio system, New electrics and wiring loom. All new chrome. New chrome Wire wheels. New Duck Hood.
The Final bill (not counting the donor car) was just under £80,000. To replicate the project today you would be looking at around £120,000 minimum.
The new Vicarage V12 E-type was completed in 2003 and has covered a mere 3000 miles since. It has always been serviced by Vicarage in the intervening years and understandably drives like a new modern car.
