1958 Jaguar XK150 Fixed Head Coupe 2 + 2    £39,995 (Euro 45,829) SOLD

RHD XK150 Fixed Head Coupe, 3400 capacity, 6 cylinders, 180 bhp. 4-speed manual overdrive, plus the very desirable PAS option by Vicarage.

Subject of an earlier restoration to a high standard, it has matured well. It now exhudes a mellowed patina to the body and interior which is reminiscent of a genuine time-warp car.

The car spent a portion of its early life in sunny South Africa but in 1991 it was in Jersey before being re-imported back to UK in 2000. Obviously a well-serviced example with a file of maintenance bills totalling £5,400 including one for the fitting of 5 new chrome wire wheels and Avon tyres. The engine was reputedly rebuilt approx 15,000 miles ago and the textbook oil pressure at all revs would seem to corroborate this.

The Jag drives absolutely superb with power steering and easily keeps up with modern traffic. Cruises smoothly all day at 70 mph, in Overdrive, and the supplemental Kenlowe electric fan ensures optimal temperature control. The body is finished in rich Imperial Maroon and is immaculate apart from a few tiny areas where the paint is a bit thin due to over zealous polishing by previous proud owners, but this only enhances the vintage appearance of this true classic British sportscar. Plush Red Hide Upholstery. Headlining, Seats, Carpets, Door cards are flawless, consistent with a cherished classic.

This is a genuine 2 + 2 with 2 small, rear, bucket seats for children.

The car is supplied with Heritage Certificate, Log books, Free Tax disc, MOT, History File, Jack & Wheelbrace, Owner’s Handbook. Tailor-made lambswool car cover with Jaguar emblem.

You will not find an XK150 as good as this in faultless driving condition for under £40k anywhere. First come first served!

Origins

Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernized. For the first time a one piece windscreen was used and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened and opened down to the wings. Inside the car the walnut dashboard went, to be replaced by one trimmed in leather. The standard engine, the same as fitted to the XK140, was the 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight-6 rated at 180 SAE bhp at 5750 rpm
